Mama Noks

Nokuzola Matolengwe, known very popularly in her community as “Mama Noks”, is a hard-working single mother living with her 9 year-old son, Siphamandla, and 21 year-old daughter, Thembisa. She started her bead-making business after she used her talents as a designer of beading necklaces where she was working prior to her venture. Her bead-making business specialises in beads made from recycled magazine paper.

Her heart lies in employing and helping other single mothers living in poverty, which is one of the biggest problems facing her community. She seeks to gather other single mothers in her community and help them work towards building a better and sustainable future for themselves and their children.

Mama Noks resides in Tambo Village, a little village situated right off Gugulethu township in Cape Town, South Africa.
